RAC Provides New Reaction System For One Of The UK's Leading Chemical Manufacturers
RAC joined forces with Richard Alan Engineering to install a new reaction system at the Bradford site of Ciba Chemicals.

The work involved the removal of an existing concrete floor before installing 200 mm case driven steel mini piles, which were then capped to facilitate the weight of reactors spread across them. They were then filled with concrete and finished to floor level.

The floors were coated with chemically resistant resin to create a clean and hardworking process floor surface.

A section of the roof and structural beams were removed to allow the safe entry of the reactor through the roof using a 400 tonne crane. The roof and beams were then replaced.

All the work was carried out in adherence to current Health and Safety regulations by appropriately trained staff who have significant experience of high risk tasks. All method and risk assessments were made available to Ciba two weeks in advance of the work to allow sufficient time for adjustments and refinement.
